My Writing Process Blog Tour

Thank you to Trinity Blacio for tagging me in this blog tour.

1) What am I working on?

Her Wolf Ménage, my next full-length erotic paranormal, releases March 20. Right now I’m gearing up for that, and have been putting together some fun contest prizes. I also just finished edits on Dry Heat, my next For Men Quickie with Ellora’s Cave.

Writing-wise, I’m getting started on a submission for Decadent Publishing’s new line Beyond Fairy Tales, which are based on Grimm tales. I’m contemplating a BDSM twist to the story and the excursion I took to a dungeon during the Wild Wicked Weekend in February will help.

2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Each story is unique. I like to infuse passion and emotion into my stories. With my background in journalism, I’m told I do well with a sense of place.

3) Why do I write what I do?

Erotic is honest. If you’re dating someone in real life, most of the time you have a physical relationship before marriage. Plus, romance helps feed the part of a person’s soul that craves the glowing candles and strewn red roses. We may not get it in daily life. I’ve been married for 14 years, and I know there are ups and downs. But between the covers of a book, ah – it helps stimulate those neurons.

Secondarily, I’ve always been fascinated with the paranormal world. Ghosts, vampires, werewolves: why not?

4) How does your writing process work?

My actual writing process is insane. While I know the general direction of a story, and certain scenes I’d like to include, I don’t plot and I don’t write linear (unless it’s a short story). Most often, I write what scenes feel right. If I’m in a bad mood, maybe that’s a break-up scene. If I’m feeling particularly amorous, hey then that’s perfect timing for a hook-up. That process is one way that differentiates me from others.

In the end, fortunately, it all comes together.

Thanks for visiting. Next week, stop by and read the behind-the-scenes from my friends Sabrina Sol and Maureen O’Betita.

In celebration of Mardi Gras happening this week, here’s a taste of Mirabella’s Mardi Gras Ménage!

Constantly under the watchful eye of her Voodoo priestess aunt, Mirabella longs to break free during the events of Mardi Gras. Escapades draw her into the arms of Marguerite, a fiery redhead with a passion for life, and Nick, a familiar vampire who’s haunted by his transformation and past.

What starts as a new experience – a Mardi Gras Ménage – soon turns deadly, and none of their lives will ever be the same.
